Flynco carefully restored the historic 1905 El Dorado Junior College Building—now home to the South Arkansas Community College Administration Department—after a devastating fire left the structure in need of a total gutting and reconstruction. Since the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, every phase of the 20,800-square-foot renovation was guided by a commitment to preserving its original architectural character. Custom-produced tin ceiling tiles were sourced to honor the building’s past grandeur, and the old-growth timber joists and load-bearing masonry walls were meticulously retained, ensuring that the site’s heritage remained intact.
The project demanded adherence to strict timelines and budget constraints, which Flynco successfully managed without compromising on craftsmanship or historical authenticity. From the restored ceilings to the faithfully preserved masonry, each element reflects the thoughtful attention to detail that underscores Flynco’s dedication to revitalizing historically significant structures. Today, the South Arkansas Community College Administration Department operates in a space that artfully bridges the region’s past with modern functionality.
