The Dee Brown Library, constructed by Flynco, earned a Design Honor Award from the Arkansas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects for its striking combination of structural steel and exposed laminate beams. Timber construction and a natural stone exterior blend seamlessly with the surrounding wooded landscape, honoring the spirit of noted Arkansas historian and author Dee Brown. Spanning approximately 15,000 square feet, the library features both private study rooms and a large meeting area that can accommodate up to 75 people. Beneath the floors lies a ventilated crawl space, while high-performance, double-glazed windows with thermal breaks ensure a comfortable interior and energy efficiency.

A ground-coupled, drilled closed-loop water source heat pump system provides simultaneous heating and cooling where needed, reflecting the library’s commitment to sustainable building practices. An outdoor deck and a boardwalk extending from Baseline Road welcome visitors with an inviting pathway through the natural setting. The Dee Brown Library stands not only as a tribute to its namesake’s literary legacy, but also as a testament to Flynco’s dedication to excellence in construction and community-focused design.
