Flynco undertook a comprehensive renovation of the Pre-Security Lobby at Clinton National Airport, modernizing a space that had not seen a major update since the early 1990s. The project encompassed the terminal area from the dual escalators through to the TSA checkpoint. Highlights included the removal and replacement of two escalators, construction of a new elevator tower and cab, and rehabilitation of the existing elevator for improved accessibility.

Beyond mechanical and structural upgrades, Flynco focused on creating a contemporary, welcoming aesthetic. The discolored lobby ceiling “sails” were removed and replaced with decorative wood-look metal ceilings, while a backlit translucent 3-form panel system on the third floor brings natural light and a modern flair into the space. A new bar and restaurant were constructed in the lobby area, alongside a newly developed conference room and comfortable passenger waiting area to enrich the overall travel experience.

One of the renovation’s standout features is the extensive Terrazzo flooring, part of Clinton National Airport’s “Art in the Airport” series. Spanning 4,624 square feet, the design incorporates 50 epoxy terrazzo colors and 50 aggregate mixes—using materials like mother-of-pearl and recycled glass—to celebrate Arkansas’s natural beauty with depictions of insects, plants, and the state bird. This impressive installation earned a Judges’ Choice Award from the National Terrazzo & Mosaic Association.
