Flynco constructed a 36,167-square-foot Airfield Maintenance Facility (AMF) at the Little Rock Airport, complete with a separate 2,100-square-foot pre-engineered storage building and 2,625 square feet of office space. The project required extensive site work, including a major undercutting operation—four feet for the main building and three feet for the parking area—along with a new 22-foot-wide asphalt access drive, an asphalt parking lot, and nearly 4,900 cubic yards of concrete pavement.
With 36-inch concrete columns soaring 24 feet to support the 35-foot roof structure, the building’s design emphasizes both durability and functionality. Within the AMF, Flynco constructed multiple offices, a large conference room equipped with audiovisual tools, and common areas such as a kitchen, break room, showers, lockers, and dormitories. A 7,900-square-foot heated and cooled maintenance and equipment repair bay features exterior exhaust systems, a wash bay, oil and lube station, and a multipurpose welding shop, all accessible through two oversized overhead doors that open directly onto the concrete airfield apron.
Throughout construction, the Flynco team prioritized safety and security, as the project site lay within the airport’s Air Operations Area (AOA). By coordinating closely with airport personnel and adhering to strict security protocols, Flynco successfully delivered a robust, purpose-built facility that meets the ongoing needs of airfield maintenance while minimizing disruption to airport operations.
